VALORANT // ABYSS // BREAKDOWN

I had the opportunity to contribute to the development of VALORANT's recent map, "ABYSS," from inception to completion. These gifs highlight areas I owned from start to finish. I was responsible of owning B site, as well as all the paths leading to and from it, as well as a portion of the defender spawn. The map underwent several visual iterations, as seen in the gifs, and it took the team some time to establish its final identity. Working on B site was particularly rewarding, as it allowed for close collaboration with design, creative, and narrative teams to effectively bring their visions to life. I also contributed in the OS efforts, by providing feedback, integrating and placing props throughout the map.

A significant highlight of this project was being flown to Shanghai, China, to present the map's new look at our Championship E-Sports event. On stage at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Albert Robles and I had the chance to cast a showmatch featuring influencers, where we discussed the map's development and addressed questions from the castors. This was truly an unforgettable experience.

Thank you to Matt Burdette, and Kevin Brunt for being awesome map leads!

The maps in VALORANT are truly the result of a team effort, and it was an honor to work alongside these wonderful artists:

B Site owned from start to finish! It was fun trying to explain the purpose of this space and make it feel functional. This is where hourglass is studying the effects of Radianite on foliage.

Early blockout and production tackled by both me and Michelle Lee, Big transformation at the end was when I took ownership of the area.

Originally just a little window in heaven of a plant, I decided to open up this space to add an unplayable interior that tells a bit more of the story of how Hourglass is studying these plants!

ABYSS was my first opportunity to be the face to present one of our maps to our players. I had the amazing opportunity of being flown to Shanghai, China with Albert Robles. Where we helped interview, cast and answer q's live in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
